Creating Tasks

The videos on this page are ordered in such a way as to explain the process of building a study and how tasks are essential to any experimental design. From questionnaires to using the trial system to upload visual stimuli, and randomization, the videos below should give you plenty of instructions and information to get going!

Canvas and Page Frames

In this video, we discuss the difference between canvas frames and page frames. On a canvas frame, you can drag and drop elements freely, while page frames are the majority of the time used to create structured questionnaires.

Page Frames and Questionnaires

In this video, we discuss Page Frames and how to use them to create questionnaires. We also cover unique aspects of working with page frames, such as special properties and shuffling the position for randomization purposes. This is a great feature because you can use Events to make your questionnaires dynamic and professional.

The Trial System

This video is an overview explanation of the trial system and its use of factors, levels, conditions, and trials in an image selection task. This functional tree-like structure allows you to assign unique stimuli to trials and conditions and ultimately create complex randomization models.

Uploading Files

This video explains the general process of uploading files to use as stimuli and presents two ways to upload media files to your account. These options allow you to add unique stimuli to your studies!

Randomization Features Overview

This video gives a quick walkthrough of how to randomize your study in the Study Design tab as well as the Randomization menu in the Task Editor. Topics in this video include:

  • randomizing within blocks,
  • randomizing using multiple blocks,
  • counterbalancing using multiple blocks,
  • between-subject balancing utilizing the Study Settings
  • within-subject balancing using the Randomization Menu
