Desktop App for Psychology Experiments and Data Recordings
The Labvanced Desktop App provides researchers with a way to bring Labvanced-based experiments directly into the lab. The desktop app allows you to design your experiment(s), record data, and integrate lab equipment, such as EEGs, all in one place.

Applications
Integration with Lab Equipment and EEG
First and foremost, the desktop app allows you to connect Labvanced with special lab equipment like EEGs, motion sensors, wearables and many more devices. Via LSL integration, you can establish a connection between Labvanced and the external device(s).
Markers created in Labvanced appear at the bottom, based on the condition type and click.

Offline Recordings and Syncing
The desktop app allows you to collect data, regardless of whether you are online or offline. This also applies to designing and creating your experiment. The experiment and the data just sync later when you get back online.
Improve Lab Efficiency
The desktop app is a step in the right direction, serving as a cost-saving solution for you and your lab by providing all the software you need to run your research in one place. By being able to connect your equipment, record data and set up experiments, your team has less software to learn and manage.
Example Scenario:
- Some experiments have a 2-part structure; for example, 500 participants take part remotely, while a smaller fraction of participants is asked to come in person into the lab and perform the experiment while wearing equipment, like EEGs, to capture physiological data. In the past, this required setting up and programming two different experiments: one that would be administered remotely via Labvanced and one that was compatible with the equipment. Now, with the desktop app, you can just have one study set up and administer it wherever and however you’d like.
Key Features
- No-Coding Required Experiment Builder: Just as in the web-based version, the desktop app lets you create a wide range of experimental designs without having to code. Note: of course, if you want to inject code, you can! With the desktop app, you can have a focused view of your experiment and build it right within the app.
- Efficient data collection (online/offline modes): The desktop app allows you to collect and record data, regardless of your internet connection.
- Equipment integration: As mentioned previously, you can integrate your lab equipment with the desktop app using a few simple clicks.
- Cross-platform compatibility: Run experiments on Windows, macOS, and Linux Ubuntu.
