Eye Tracking in Labvanced
Eye tracking research in Labvanced can be done in one of two ways, depending on how gaze data is collected.
Use Labvanced's Built-In Webcam Eye Tracking
Labvanced's own webcam-based eye tracking runs directly in the browser using a participant's built-in or external webcam, with no additional hardware required. Its accuracy has been validated against research-grade equipment (Kaduk et al., 2024).

Connect Your Own In-Lab Eye-Tracking Hardware
If your lab already uses dedicated eye-tracking hardware, Labvanced can be connected to it via the Lab Streaming Layer (LSL) protocol on the desktop app. Labvanced sends trial and event markers out over LSL, synced to your study's triggers, the same pattern used for EEG integration; the eye tracker's own recording software then merges its data with those markers.
Whether a specific device supports LSL depends on the hardware and firmware version, and support varies across manufacturers and even across generations of the same product line. Check with your eye tracker's own documentation or manufacturer before relying on it for a study. See the Lab Streaming Layer (LSL) section under Settings for the general setup.
